A Very Bad Day
Kate Roberts
Summary: I suck at them. Read it.
"ARRGGHHH!!!"
Ares, God of War was having one Tartarus of a day. Nothing was going right. It irritated the hell out of him. He just thanked his father it was almost over. Of course, if his father hadn't been going senile the day would have been much easier to deal with.
First, Xena and Hercules had…no that was second. First, his mother had come to him this morning and informed him that his father was having an episode and he would have to handle all of Zeus' duties that day as well as his own. Secondly, his idiot half brother had ruined his attempts at controlling the population. How was the human race to survive if Hercules, Xena and that Blasted Gabrielle wouldn't let him do his job to prevent starvation?
Then he had to handle all of his families problems as well as his own. Gods, it was frustrating. Couldn't any of them think for themselves?
"Can anything Else possibly go wrong?!" He screamed to the roof of his Olympian temple.
"Another day has almost come and gone.
Can't imagine what else could go wrong.
Sometimes I'd like to hideaway somewhere and lock the door.
A single battle lost but not the War"
Ares threw a fireball across the room and watched with some glee as it exploded against the wall. That released some tension. And he knew nothing could be worse than this day had been. Ares finally sat across his throne feeling a massive headache he hoped a good night's rest and a better day tomorrow would help cure.
"Tomorrow's another day
And I'm thirsty any way
So bring on the rain."
Ares so wanted to rip his half brother apart for his attitude about what the gods did. Like the little brat knew anything? "Gods!"
Ares also wanted to kill most of his siblings for not being able to think. How was he supposed to know how, when and where a music festival should be held? He wasn't the god of music. Apollo should have known the answer to that one himself. It just got worse after that. His family, including the Demi-God parts of it, had given him fits all day. Ares finally sighed and laid his head back. He'd chalk this day up to experience.
"It's almost like the hard times circle 'round
A couple drops and they all start comin' down
Yeah, I might look defeated,
I might hang my head
I might be barely breathin'- but I'm not dead."
Ares looked at the scroll his little grandson Bliss had left him and smiled. He couldn't help it. It was just a silly picture drawn in crayon, but it was cute.
"Tomorrow's another day.
And I'm thirsty anyway
So bring on the rain."
Ares chuckled as he went into his bedroom to rest and set Bliss' scroll on the night table. Yeah, he wasn't going to let this kill him. He could do this. He was Zeus' heir; he had to be able to do this.
"I'm not gonna let it get me down
I'm not gonna cry
I'm not gonna lose any sleep tonight
Tomorrow's another day,
And I'm thirsty anyway,
So bring on the rain."
In the great temple of war, The War God slept, waiting for tomorrow when everything would be better.
"So, bring on the rain."
Bring on the rain Lyrics by Billy Montana/Helen Darling. Song by Jo Dee Messina and Tim McGraw. 2002
