Psyche looked down at her husbands sleeping form. Cupid was hunched up in a fetal ball, dried tear tracks still visible on his face.
Apollo had finally had to call Zeus to help put him to sleep. He'd fought, but the other two gods eventually wore him down.
She'd always suspected she didn't have all of him. Oh, she knew he loved her, but there were times when she couldn't touch him, he was so far gone in his mind remembering.
She'd never asked…hadn't wanted to know, but now it was painfully clear…her husband loved another.
Perhaps, if it'd been another woman, she'd be angry, but right now she could only feel grief. Grief that Cupid hadn't confided in her… that she hadn't known how deeply he felt…that he needed more than she could give…that she hadn't pressed the issue, forcing the truth into the open…that his sorrow was driving him insane.
Psyche slowly came to her feet, her course decided. She couldn't change the past. She'd never felt the need to choose a vocation to gain more power, to actively participate in godly matters, or even be a strong person in life. Everyone had always taken care of her. But if Cupid needed her help, then by the Gods, she'd become the most powerful goddess on Olympus if she had to. It didn't matter what she had to sacrifice, she loved Cupid with all her soul. If she had to share him, then so be it! She wasn't the innocent girl that first came to Olympus…hadn't been for some time. She wouldn't let this destroy Cupid. One way or another, she was getting Strife back!
The End.
