They staggered in from the outside laughing and covered in mud. Ares and Joxer and Cupid and Strife. It had been a long time since they'd just played like that. Ares snorted more laughter as he thought about his Dark Uncle mudslinging with the best of them. But then, Ares thought, if Strife hadn't knocked him into the mud it wouldn't have happened. It was unintentional but still. Ares snorted more laughter as he remembered the look on Hades' face when Strife had slammed into the side of his chariot from Joxer's placing a stick under his feet. The Look of total gob smackedness was absolutely hysterical. At least until Hades kicked Strife's feet out from under him. Then the mud war had really gotten underway. Who knew Hades could throw like that?
Although the look on Zeus' face after he got hit had made it worthwhile of getting a royal mud bath at his uncle's hands. So much for having meetings on the mortal plain after a rain storm. When the younger gods got bored, things happened with mud. Like it went flying at anyone who was in range. Not even Aphrodite was spared. Although, Ares was sure Apollo regrtetted hitting her if the dousing he got from Heph was any indication. Dite's dress was see through when wet. Still, Ares thought the most interesting part of the mud fight had cme when Xena came across them and she and Gabrielle laughed at the all rolling in the mud laughing like fools. Artemis had slammed her with some mud balls and Hades got Gabrielle. No one expected Hades to do it either. But he siad he just couldn't resist. Gabrielle was there and the mud puddle was there and it was just to perfect not to take advantage of. boy was she angry. Sharing these thoughts with his three companions had them all on the floor laughing again too.
Joxer's favorite part was Hades nailing Zeus in the face when he was aiming for Strife and Strife ducked.
Hades reaction to that had been a carefree "Whoops" before throwing more and this time getting Strife.
That got Zeus involved the mud match. By the end of it, everyone from Iphicles of Corinh to Hercules was involved. Hercules got in the teeth from Athena who, like Hades, surprised them with her ability in this area. The two most serious members of the pantheon were the best at mud slinging. Who knew?
As they all finally settled down and got clean and into bed, Joxer snickered. He wondered how long it would take Xena and Gabby to realize he had been there and he was a god? Maybe they'd find out when they reconvened tomorrow in the great hall? Although if getting everybody including Posiedon to losen up was as easy as having a meeting on the mortal plain after a rainstorm, then hey, Joxer, God of Peace, was all for it.
Strife snuggled into Cupid and laughed wondering what a Water Balloon fight at the next meeting would do?
